Microsoft launches its Surface Hub 2S collaborative PC for $9,000 - andersonyouldame

Last year, Microsoft announced the successor to its Surface Hub—the Surface Hub 2S, a 50-edge whiteboarding PC that could be mounted on a wall or even rolled from room to room. On Wednesday, the keep company officially launched that product, and announced a bigger, 85-inch theoretical account due by and by this year, as well as a fork Surface Hub 2 Display monitor.

Don't carry the Surface Hub 2S to blessing your living board or home office, nonetheless, as Microsoft has priced 50-in 2S display at $9,000. Microsoft sees the 2S as a cooperative workspace, functional Teams, Office 365, its Whiteboard app, and other Microsoft software. Microsoft launched the Aboveground Hub 2S happening Wednesday in conjugation with Steelcase, which is manufacturing the rolling easel that makes the Surface Hub 2S semi-portable—there's steady an optional barrage fire attachment. The easel (on with the 2S) will begin shipping in June.

Microsoft surface hub 2s Microsoft

Little appears to have transformed since the 2S was originally announced: On that point's still a 4K camera to complement the sweeping shrou of glass upon which unaccessible users can either appear in little Windows, or in a full-sized approximation of their real-lifespan selves. The screen door itself is multi-touch enabled, and ships with a blown-up, thick stylus that rear comprise magnetically attached to the side of the screen.

From a performance standpoint, the Surface Hub 2S offers 50 percent more nontextual matter performance than the original Surface Hub. It's also 40 percent lighter at 61.6 pounds, with a 60 percent thinner display. (It measures 29.2 x 43.2 x 3.0 inches, Microsoft says.) IT's powered by an covert quad-core 8th-generation Intel Core chip, 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, and a UHD Graphics 620 GPU, according to Microsoft's specifications page.

What's interesting almost the Surface Hub 2's design is that IT features a modular compute hub that can be abstracted, and, conceivably, upgraded. The Surface Hub 2S will eventually be replaced away the Surface Hub 2X "undergo," a compute hub with upgraded hardware that's expected to show off an upgrade to Windows. Microsoft said finis year that it expects the 2X to ship in 2020.

Meanwhile, Microsoft says IT will ship the larger 85-edge interpretation of the Surface Hub 2S in early 2020 to select customers. And though we've been pining for a standalone Come on Studio monitor, Microsoft at to the lowest degree is qualification a version of its Surface Hub 2S available atomic number 3 a standalone display: The Surface Hub 2 Expose will still characteristic touch support, but without the C.P.U. option. (Microsoft hasn't said what IT will cost, though, or its sizing.)

What this means to you: Microsoft smartly realizes that in that location is no same-size of it-fits-all approach path to coaction, so it's providing separate size options and even a CPU-less display option for those companies that simply want to elevate an existing solution. We still postulate to visit what the future holds for the Rise Hub 2, though Microsoft is sharply leveraging its other collaboration features to push the Surface Hub 2 into the workplace.
