25 Billion Connected Devices By 2022 Thanks to IoT Revolution: Gartner

With the Internet of Things (IoT) expected to become more mainstream in the coming years, market research firm, Gartner, has now published the results of a study which claims that the number of continued devices in employ will get upwardly to a whopping 25 billion (2,500 crores) globally by 2021. In fact, by next year itself, the figure is projected to impact fourteen.two billion (ane,420 crores), according to the study.

Titled "Tiptop Strategic IoT Trends and Technologies Through 2023", the study emphasized on the need for a governance framework that would ensure appropriate behavior in the creation, storage, use and deletion of information related to IoT projects going forward.

Co-ordinate to Nick Jones, Research Vice President at Gartner, "The IoT volition continue to deliver new opportunities for digital business concern innovation for the next decade, many of which will be enabled past new or improved technologies".

By 2023, information technology is expected that new special-purpose chips will reduce the power consumption required to run a deep neural networks (DNN), enabling new edge architectures and embedded DNN functions in depression-power IoT endpoints, the written report said. This will support new capabilities such as information analytics integrated with sensors, and speech recognition included in low toll bombardment-powered devices.

"Currently, most IoT endpoint devices use conventional processor chips, with low-power ARM architectures being particularly popular. However, traditional instruction sets and memory architectures aren't well-suited to all the tasks that endpoints need to perform", said Jones. "For example, the performance of DNNs is ofttimes express by memory bandwidth, rather than processing power", he added.
